The Henry Tax Review Will Cost Small Business

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Small business leaders are predicting that the Henry Tax Review will cost dearly for small businesses in Australia and that some of the good from the previous business funding that was designed to help small business get on its feet during the recession will be erased now.
The government’s reduction in the corporate tax rate will benefit many other segments of the Australian economy except for small business according to some economic leaders.
“What the government has given with a two percentage point reduction in corporate taxes it has more than taken back with a three percentage point increase in the superannuation guarantee,” said one Liberal MP.
The liberals are saying that government response will in effect cost small business so much the employment will be reduced as compulsory superannuation payments rise.

I’ll scrap dismissal laws: Abbott

Monday, February 15th, 2010

With an election looming, the federal war of words is heating up and Tony Abbott has already said that he was reintroduce non union contracts and adjust unfair dismissal laws. All these means that the availability of Australian government grants and workplace relations will be forefront in the next federal election.
Deputy Opposition Leader Julie Bishop also got involved in the fray that is sure to affect small business. She claims that the Rudd government is bringing back unfair conditions in the workplace. Workplace Relations Minister Julia Gillard was equally critical of all the movements that were being made.
It seems that so far none of the politicians involved were willing to discuss how their plans for the election would affect business funding on any scale, but there seems to be a movement toward less government funding as Australia’s economy improves.

For an LPG vehicle that has been purchased after July 1, 2009, small business may be eligible for following small business grants from $1000 to $1750. If you’ve received grants for any previous conversions you may be eligible for additional grants when the necessary grant application has been filled out. If the vehicle is a boat or tricycle, there is no eligibility for a grant. Those who meet the requirements will be asked to supply a current driver’s license and registration to apply for these Australian grants and loans.
