Business start up grants help Australian companies

New Carbon Price Fund supports investments in green technology and energy efficiency for businesses through business start up grants

$200 million in business start up grants boost green businesses industry in Australia

Under-resourced green start up businesses are getting a lift from the new $10 billion Clean Energy Finance Corporation, which has programs providing business start up grants. The green start ups in Australia are playing catch up with their corresponding businesses overseas, according to industry figures.

The government of Australia has stepped in and as part of their carbon pricing plan has established a new fund to help those green businesses with much-needed business start up grants. If a green start up is seeking funds to get innovative clean energy proposals and technologies up and running or requires assistance to refocus their manufacturing and other activities towards renewable energy, these business start up grants are intended for their business.

Strategy director at the Clean Energy Council, Kane Thornton, has been awaiting such assistance, expressing that this new fund will help renewable start ups "get on the right road" to developing their businesses. Under the Australian Renewable Energy Agency, $3.2 billion has been allocated to start up entrepreneurs who are seeking renewable energy solutions. An additional $200 million in business start up grants will be used to support investment in green technology and energy efficiency.

The struggle for green start up businesses exists after the research and development phase. It is difficult for businesses to continue to grow and match businesses in the rest of the world without proper financing. This new carbon price plan inclusion will encourage investments for the sector and the business start up grants will help green businesses finally grow across Australia.
