• Try and reserve your flights as early as possible. This way you can get better discounts on standard fares. It is often the case that airlines will warn people that they will be penalized them for changing the flight time or day, but it can still often be possible to get the cheaper rate so long as you are not altering the flight route; so you may pay a penalty if you change times, but still get a discounted rate.
• Don’t use the car rental company in the airport. In most instances you will be able to find a cheaper rental option near to the airport. Do some investigation first and so where offers the best overall package.
• If you belong to a business organization you can check to see if you are entitled to any discounts on your rental car. Always check to see if the car rental company has any discounts available on particular cars; sometimes the more luxurious car can be discounted more than the more popular ones.
• If you are a member of a barter network you might be entitled to a big discount at your hotel.
• It sometimes pays to stay in an expensive hotel, but ask for the cheapest room in the hotel. This way you will save by having all amenities that would not be available in a cheaper hotel. Staying here is also likely to impress any clients that you are meeting.
• Make sure that you use your frequent flyer and air-mile cards; these can really save you a bit of money.
• If you regularly travel abroad then you should consider getting some type of travel health coverage that you can pay yearly.
